Resume play (continue watching)

Magic Resume (UI string under settings.magicResume) tells AtomicPlayer to let returning viewers continue from roughly where they left off—the same job-to-be-done as “Continue watching” in VTurb-style players.

Enable

  1. Open Video settings.
  2. Enable Magic resume.
  3. Save editions and refresh your embed so resume reaches production visitors.

When it helps

  • Multi-session webinars or chapterized VSLs.
  • Remarketing traffic that bounces mid-video and returns later.

When to keep it off

  • Compliance requires every view to start at 0:00 (for example certain financial scripts).
  • A/B tests where you must control exactly which section each visitor sees.

Privacy note

Resume behavior relies on browser storage or player-managed persistence (implementation may evolve). Mention cookies or local storage in your privacy policy when required in your jurisdiction.

Frequently asked questions

Does resume sync across devices?

Typically no—storage is per browser profile. Treat it as a convenience for the same device returning.

Does Magic Resume conflict with Magic Autoplay?

They solve different problems. You can run both, but always preview the first visit vs return visit stories.
