How to Use Quantity Tiers and Subscribe and Save
Quantity tiers let one simple product express “buy more, pay differently.” Subscribe & Save layers recurring merchandising on top so shoppers pick a pack size and a purchase type (one-time vs subscription).
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- A simple product (bundles use child products instead). See How to create a product.
- Checkout URLs from your payment provider for one-time and subscription purchases.
- Pack sizes and discount story planned (for example 1 / 2 / 3 unit tiers).
See Quantity tiers (reference) and Subscribe and Save (reference).
Step 1: Enable Quantity Tiers
- Open Products and edit a Simple product.
- Under Quantity tiers, enable Enable quantity-based pricing tiers.
- Base pricing hides — each tier row owns its economics.
For each tier configure:
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Qty | Units in this pack (minimum 1) |
| Label | Shopper text such as 1 Bag or 3 Pack |
| Price / unit | Currency per unit; editor shows auto Total |
| Compare | Optional strike-through when Subscribe & Save is off |
| Details | Extra line such as 30 Servings |
| Badge | Optional tag like Most Popular |
| Image | Optional tier thumbnail |
Use Add tier for additional rows. You cannot delete the last tier while the feature stays enabled.
Step 2: Set Checkout URLs for Tiers
Use same link for all tiers checked:
- Per-tier URL fields hide.
- Fill the global Button URL in the CTA section for all packs.
Use same link for all tiers unchecked:
- Each tier exposes One-time purchase URL.
- When subscriptions are on, add Subscription URL per tier.
Always use HTTPS links from your payment platform.
Step 3: Enable Subscribe and Save
- Open Subscription options.
- Turn on Enable Subscribe & Save.
- Add Benefit lines (plain text) such as “Free shipping on renewals” with + Add benefit.
With tiers enabled, each row gains:
- Sub. discount % — percent off the pack total for subscribers
- Subscription URL — when per-tier checkout links are enabled
Compare-at inputs on tiers hide while Subscribe & Save is on.
Step 4: Preview and Save
- Toggle Preview and test each tier for one-time and subscription paths when both are enabled.
- Confirm benefit lines read clearly on mobile.
- Click Save Product.
- Republish pages that use this product after major pricing changes.
See Product preview and How to add a product to a page.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| Compare-at vanished | Expected when Subscribe & Save is enabled — use Sub. discount % instead. |
| Bundle missing tiers | Tiers belong to simple products, not bundle containers. |
| Wrong checkout on live page | Re-save product, republish page, test each tier URL. |
Outcome
Your simple product offers multiple pack sizes with optional Subscribe & Save — each with correct pricing and checkout links for shoppers.

FAQ
Can bundles use tiers?
Bundles rely on child simple products for pricing. Tier controls belong to each simple child, not the bundle container.
Why did my compare-at inputs vanish?
Subscribe & Save replaces compare-at inputs with subscription discount % so the UI does not mix incompatible pricing modes on the same row.
Is there a global subscription discount slider?
Day-to-day authoring relies on per-tier Sub. discount % when quantity tiers are enabled.
